The restrictions on the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment known as the RoHS Directive (Directive 2002/95/EC) was adopted by the European Union on the 27th of January 2003. The provisions of this Directive came into force in the United Kingdom on the 1st of July 2006.
